By Connor Hart EssilorLuxottica and Meta Platforms are expanding their portfolio of smartglasses, launching a line of audio-only smartglasses and a new generation of its popular Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses. Amid pushback and controversy over its video-recording glasses, the companies said late Wednesday that they will roll out a pair without cameras. Dubbed the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, the new line will be the lightest and slimmest yet, they added.
The companies also announced the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, a next-gen model of their most popular smartglasses featuring a slimmer design, longer battery life and a customizable action button for access to Meta AI. The new smartglasses will offer a richer experience, coming fully equipped with Muse, Meta's AI agent, that users will soon be able to use a voice mode to talk to directly and ask the agent to take care of tasks for them.
